To be successful in this position, Starfish Fabricators must proactively and continuously identify opportunities to improve safety, and increase quality, productivity, and customer service, through experimentation, and through error reduction methodologies.

General Duties and Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities for this position involve the fabrication and finishing of various custom signage and other related products. The work will involve cutting, finishing and assembly of signs using aluminum, acrylic, PVC and wood. The fabricator will receive detailed designs and production files from the Starfish Design Team, and will work from those files to prepare finished products. Specific job requirements include:

Committed to the health, safety and well-being of all team members through full compliance with all safety policies and requirements.

Fully committed to personal and team excellence in all business processes.

Maintain an organized, clean and professional facility at all times.

Operate a CNC router, and other fabrication tools and machines.

Software Tools and Workflow Management

Use the Company's business software tools to organize work, verify job specifications, understand procedures, and document workflow.

Develop proficiency with 'EnRoute' CNC software.

Develop proficiency with the 'CoreBridge' workflow management system and be able to access and update all jobs through CoreBridge.

Reduce errors by using written communications as the primary method of documentation, in correspondence with Team Members, Customers, and Suppliers.

The typical communications tools will include CoreBridge, email, and the 'Teams' applications. Additional software knowledge is a plus, including general familiarity with internet searches, cloud-based applications, and social media navigation and usage.

Other Qualifications

Have a cell phone and a reliable personal vehicle. Be willing to use both for work as requested. Starfish Signs will provide reimbursement for work related mileage, based on the current IRS mileage rates. In addition:

Have and maintain a good driving record.

Have and maintain appropriate auto insurance policies. Starfish Signs will maintain additional vehicle insurance through an 'Employer Non-Owned' Vehicle policy.

Continuous Improvement

The Starfish Signs OpEx (Operational Excellence) Process is based on continuous improvement - in the areas of quality, responsiveness, customer service, error reduction, and productivity - in all functions of the business, from marketing and order-taking, to fabrication and installation. Our continuous improvement processes are based on a few basic principles:

That every employee is in the best position to identify specific improvement opportunities in his / her job.

That most errors are the result of absent or incomplete processes and systems.

That we all have the responsibility to learn and use the processes that are specific to our jobs.

That 'What You Measure is What You Get'.

That systematic error reduction requires the use of a structured Root Cause Investigation Procedure.

That we all work towards top level Company metrics, while having individual job-specific metrics.

That we will all challenge one another to improve, that we will all accept feedback in a non-defensive manner, while keeping in mind the requirement that we work together in a professional and respectful manner.
