SUMMARY
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible designing standard and custom features used in the manufacturing and assembly of x-ray cabinets. They will develop processes and procedures for assembly and document the necessary features so that it can be successfully built by the Assembly Technicians. Additional to custom designs, their aim will be to improve efficiency through re-design of any current and former products. The Mechanical Engineer will be required to create sub-assemblies where necessary, and full assemblies that combine mechanical, electrical, and self-fabricated components.
This position also requires close interaction with other departments such as Software, Sales, and Service for new product implementation. It will require developing relationships with suppliers for custom and off the shelf products used in manufacturing.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Proficient in use of Solidworks 3D CAD software including, but not limited to:
Creating solid parts, assemblies, and drawings
Photo Rendering assemblies and performing motion studies for customer presentations
Ability to consistently produce clean, efficient work instructions for system assembly
Experience in design for automation and understanding the communication methods used to control hardware componenets
Ability to integrate new hardware components
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent in research, design, development, for new feature implementation
Collaborative mindset and willingness to recommend and execute improvements
Eagerness to explore new products and features that will add value to the product and provide implementation schedules
Ability to work individually or with other developers
Effective communication of design intent to supervisors, customers, and colleagues
Use of basic hand tools for assembly and process development
Provide clarity and guidance to Manufacturing Dept. on new design implementation
Working with teams overseas for rapid design and time to market strategies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
BS/BA in Mechanical Engineering
Ability to read wiring diagrams and electrical schematics
Working knowledge of various prototyping methods for manufacturing
Knowledge of various fabrication techniques used in industrial manufacturing
Understanding of the basics behind logical process design
Skills necessary to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical failures, as well as recommend corrective actions
Ability and willingness to learn new technologies
