Inventory Clerk

Description Robert Half is offering a contract employment opportunity for an Inventory Control Specialist at a company located in Santa Barbara, California. This role is integral to our team, requiring a detail-oriented individual with strong basic math skills and proficiency in Excel. The job function will involve analyzing invoices, managing inventory, and supporting the Controller in developing inventory management processes.Responsibilities: Interpret invoices, Unit of Measurement (UOM), and calculate unit prices based on invoice information. Receive inventory products and stock as needed. Support the Controller in developing and implementing inventory management improvement initiatives and processes. Lead and conduct inventory cycle counts, including researching and documenting inventory discrepancies to identify root causes and propose solutions. Collaborate with teams within the company to prepare inventory for efficient counting processes, including identifying inventory discrepancies, disposals, and waste. Develop a keen understanding of product quality standards set by the company teams. Monitor and perform key functions related to inventory transactions to ensure accuracy and timeliness, including identifying product returns and products scrapped. Adhere to and provide guidance to internal teams as necessary in accordance with inventory management standard operating procedures. Assist in establishing minimums, maximums, and par levels for inventory. Inspect products in locations to ensure correct quantity and proper labeling. Input data into the inventory tracking database to ensure accuracy of received quantities, vendor, item SKU, unit of measurement, unit price, and locations. Develop and maintain delivery schedules by vendor. Develop a strong working relationship with vendor delivery drivers.Requirements Proficient in answering inbound calls and providing information or assistance as needed Possess strong auditing skills to ensure accuracy and completeness of inventory Ability to create and interpret charts and graphs for data presentation Skilled in various clerical duties such as filing, data entry, and record keeping Excellent communication and organizational skills Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping Basic knowledge of inventory management systems and procedures Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel Ability to lift and move items as necessary for inventory checks High school diploma or equivalent; relevant work experience in inventory management is a plus.
