Job Type: Full-time/Part-time

Pay Scale: $16.00-18.00 plus tips on pool (with minimum wage at $16/hr)

Location: Lilac Montecito, 1209 Coast Village Rd, Montecito

Reports To: General Manager / Key Hourly

Job Summary:

The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality beverages, providing excellent guest service, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. This role requires a passion for coffee and the ability to create a welcoming environment for guests.

Key Responsibilities:

Beverage Preparation:

Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, teas, and other beverages according to established recipes and standards.

Operate espresso machines, grinders, and other equipment safely and efficiently.

Guest Service:

Greet guests warmly and take their orders accurately.

Provide recommendations based on customer preferences and educate them about menu items.

Handle guest inquiries and resolve any issues promptly and professionally.

Sales Responsibilities:

Promote and upsell menu items, including pastries and seasonal specials.

Process payments accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.

Cleanliness and Maintenance:

Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including equipment and dining areas.

Follow health and safety regulations, ensuring food safety standards are met.

Team Collaboration:

Work as part of a team to ensure smooth and efficient service.

Assist in training new staff on coffee preparation and customer service techniques.

Qualifications:

Previous experience as a barista or in a guest service role is preferred.

Up-to-date certifications on all required compliance training within 30 days of hire.

Knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and equipment is a plus.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred; barista training or certification is a plus.
