OVERVIEW:
The primary function of this position is to supervise both large and small groups of students in a variety of youth-focused programming. The program aide will supervise and lead activities for all activities in the teen drop-in center.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will be responsible for leading assigned groups of students through daily activities, distance learning, and recreational activities
Will adhere to and implement discipline procedures created for children and staff
Will communicate any student, parent, or staff issues with the Supervisor/Coordinator immediately
Will keep student and staff issues confidential
Ensure each program area used by groups is properly cleaned before they move on to the next activity
Maintain an accurate head count of the assigned group at all times
Facilitate day check-in and out procedures according to protocol
Maintain a safe working environment: report all facility defects/problems to Supervisor
Enforce all rules that pertain to the specific program and facility on a consistent basis
Assist in emergencies or treatment of injured participants or staff
Assist in the development of lesson plans for middle school & high school programs
Assist in any support roles for the teen drop-in center
Other related duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Classwork in education, childhood development, or related field (Preferred)
High School diploma or equivalent (Required)
Experience working with teens and children
CPR/First Aid certification or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire
Valid Food Handlers Card or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Effective verbal and written communications
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to multi-task
Able to work with limited supervision
Detail oriented
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
