Position Purpose:
The Restaurant Host(ess) is the first person to interact with arriving guests as they enter the restaurant. The Food Runner ensures that guests receive their meals in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
-Meet and greet guests as they enter the restaurant
-Seat guests utilizing a server seating chart
-Assist in the stocking of the buffet
-Running food to guests' tables
-Bussing tables
-Closing out guest checks
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.
Perform any general cleaning tasks using standard restaurant cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards.
-Assist the busperson in clearing and resetting the tables when necessary
-Perform all assigned sidework
-Attend required lineups and meetings
-Perform other duties as requested
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
-Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
-Knowledge of the appropriate table settings, serviceware and menu items.
-Ability to read, write and speak the English language sufficient to understand menus and special promotions.
-Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
-Ability to operate a keyboard and learn Point of Sale procedures to pre-check order and close out the check.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
EDUCATION
High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Previous six (6) months to one year previous hosting or serving experience. Prior hospitality experience preferred.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
CA State Food Handlers permit.
