Direct Support Caregiver: Weekend Position Available

Are you looking for a rewarding weekend role that combines meaningful care with fun outings? We are seeking a reliable, active, and patient caregiver for a 46-year-old gentleman who is autistic, has intellectual disabilities and diabetes. He is looking for a companion to help him navigate his weekend routine, manage his health, and enjoy his favorite hobbies.

If you share a passion for the outdoors and local culture, from long hikes and coastal excursions to exploring museums, catching the latest films, to browsing comic book stores and window shopping at the mall, this role offers a unique opportunity to stay active while making a genuine impact.

Position Details:

Location: Santa Rosa

Pay Rate: $25.00 for daytime hours (between 8am and 8pm) and $23.00 for nighttime hours (between 8pm and 8am).

Start Date: Immediately

The Schedule:

Weekly: Every Saturday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Monthly Extended Shift: On the third Saturday of each month, the shift extends to an overnight stay, beginning at 10:00 AM Saturday and concluding on Sunday at 6:00 PM.

Overnight Stay: This position requires an asleep overnight shift within his apartment. You will be provided with a private, comfortable space to sleep and must be available to assist if an immediate need arises.

The Role:

This position focuses on companionship, community engagement, and health management.

Active Engagement: Accompanying him on hikes, visits to local arcades, trips to comic book stores, and museum outings.

Health Management: Administering two daily injections, supervising medications and blood glucose monitoring, and accurately counting carbohydrates for meals. Full training is provided.

Routine Support: Maintaining a stable, encouraging environment, providing safety and presence through the night and assisting with activities of daily living as needed.

Transportation: Using your personal vehicle to provide safe transport to and from activities. Mileage is reimbursed.

Patience & Empathy: An understanding of neurodiversity (or a willingness to learn) and a calm, supportive communication style.

Reliability: Consistency and punctuality are essential to maintaining a stable and safe environment.

Teamwork: Our caregivers work collaboratively to ensure seamless coverage. A spirit of mutual support is highly valued to help accommodate occasional scheduling needs or emergencies within the care team.

No prior medical experience is required: We will provide comprehensive, hands-on training on insulin administration and carb counting.

No cooking required: All food is pre prepped, portioned and labeled with carb content, no cooking is required.

Requirements:

Valid Driver’s License: A clean driving record is required.

Reliable Transportation: Must have a vehicle in good working condition and valid auto insurance.

Background Check: A background check is required prior to hiring.

Vaccinations: Must stay current with Covid and Flu vaccines.
