Busy downtown real estate litigator in need of law school graduate awaiting Bar results, a newly-minted lawyer, or paralegal to provide assistance as soon as possible. This is a full-time temporary position that will last at least 3 weeks, and could last longer, as need dictates. Candidate would be expected to both assist with preparing legal pleadings/discovery, preparing exhibit and witness binders, as well as to provide administrative support.
Legal assistance needed includes drafting declarations, assistance with preparing briefs and memoranda, discovery requests/responses, filing pleadings in state and federal courts through filing service and electronically, service of documents, filing case documents, assisting with discovery responses, sending courtesy copies through Federal Express and other messenger services, and other related tasks. Administrative work would include scanning documents, making copies, scheduling hearings, communicating with clients and opposing counsel regarding scheduling, billing, and other issues. Organization skills, a good attitude, writing ability, and a strong work ethic are critical to this position. Ideal candidate must have no problem with serving in a dual role as a law clerk/paralegal and attending to administrative duties. Overtime work will be expected on occasion.
Office is a block-and-a-half from BART. Pay is $30-$33 per hour depending on experience/qualifications. Please send resume for consideration. Will begin conducting interviews immediately.
