Kalman Manufacturing of Morgan Hill, California is a Silicon Valley leader in high-precision manufacturing with a diverse customer base, ranging from medical to global positioning systems. We work closely with our customers to design, develop, and process plan products from prototypes through production.

We are searching for qualified individuals in the industry to join our WEEKEND SHIFT team! Currently, we have an opening for a top tier CNC Lead Set-up who must be able to troubleshoot and supervise our weekend shift team.

WEEKEND SHIFT is 3, 12 hour shifts, FRIDAY/ SATURDAY/SUNDAY 6AM to 6PM. 3 hours of OT potential per shift!

Description and Qualifications:

As a member of the production team, the lead will run a team of machine operators to bring parts into efficient production and meet our customers’ delivery demand. As such, the lead will allocate, review the performance of, and develop this team as well as setup machine tools. The lead will also serve as the section’s representative within the production environment, working with quality, engineering, planning and senior production management to achieve both the production schedule as well as applicable strategic corporate goals. Additionally, the setup lead is typically the production interface for new parts being implemented on the floor and develops close working relationships with our process engineers. Lastly, the lead has the opportunity to be the driving force for continuous development of the vertical milling department, giving them the ability to be a significant contributor to improved business. As production leadership is a core to Kalman Manufacturing’s business, the position has high visibility in the company, and strong performers will become highly-valued members of the team. High School Graduate or GED equivalent

5 - 10 years of experience with milling setup operations

Demonstrated capability to read and understand blueprints, including GD&T

Ability to lead small teams of operators, setup machinists and other skilled labor

Expertise in manual inspection to validate parts out of setups without resorting to a CMM

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Necessary levels of computer and math skills to be able to compute production and setup cycle times, scrap rates, and other manufacturing floor metrics

Enthusiastic desire to help drive production effort and capability of a company to best in class

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, or machine tool technology or related field

Bilingual – English and Spanish

10 years of experience with milling setup operations No programming Necessary.

Demonstrated experience supervising a team up to ten employees in manufacturing operations.

Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement projects to implementation.

Ensures compliance with ISO 9001:2008 and all governmental regulations

Skills Required:

5-10 years of experience setting-up Mills is a must. No programming Necessary.

Knowledge of Mori Seiki, Nakamura, Hitachi Seiki, and other machines with Fanuc controls is required.
