Manzanita Design Build is seeking a skilled carpenter to join our team. We focus on high-end residential remodels, ADUs, and modern additions throughout Oakland, Berkeley, and surrounding areas. The ideal candidate has experience as a Lead Carpenter or is highly motivated to grow into that role.
Responsibilities
-Execute a wide range of rough and finish carpentry tasks at a high level of craftsmanship
-Read and interpret plans, construction details, and specifications accurately
-Lay out work, plan ahead, and manage daily crew workflow efficiently
-Handle building inspections and demonstrate working knowledge of codes and regulations
-Communicate clearly with the project manager and builder regarding workflow, process, and schedule needs
-Maintain professionalism with employees, subcontractors, and clients at all times
Requirements
-Minimum 5 years of residential carpentry experience
-Proficiency in safe operation of common power tools, hand tools, ladders, and scaffolding
-Physical ability to consistently perform carpentry tasks safely and competently
-Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
-Ability to use a smartphone for time tracking, task management, and communication
-Clear verbal communication in English; Spanish is a significant plus
-Genuine enthusiasm for quality building and craftsmanship
Compensation & Schedule
-Starting wage: $40–$50/hour, depending on demonstrated skill
-Four-day workweek (9 hours/day), Fridays off
-No overtime, nights, or weekend work
