The Director, Strategic Partners will play a pivotal role in driving the execution The Hartford’s Small Commercial Sales & Distribution Strategy. In this highly visible role, the Director will have accountability for the financial success of Small Commercial’s high profile National Partners with a countrywide footprint.The Director will report to the AVP, Small Commercial National Partner Lead and can be based remotely within the United States. 35% travel to business partners is required.Responsibilities:

Accountable for achieving national Small Commercial financial goals and ensuring local Small Commercial goals are met.

Lead Partner Management for assigned National Partners to drive our strategic and financial success.

Create a cohesive strategy, roadmap, and implementation plan to drive required growth and profit with assigned National Partners.

Manage strategic planning process for the organization to deliver the annual business plan.

Establish exceptional internal relationships with UW, Product, Service, and Claim Partners.

Manage all internal aspects of assigned partners' contracts and compensation.

Establish deep, credible executive relationships with assigned distribution partners, including corporate office executives as well as key regional distribution leaders.

Understand and identify the dynamics of a rapidly changing marketplace and evolving distribution landscape. Develop competitor and marketplace intelligence regarding overall industry, segment, distribution, and individual National Partner trends, including but not limited to M&A activity, talent, emerging technology/platforms, and HIG rank and headroom. Identify critical growth strategies in response that strengthen our competitive position.

Create joint business opportunities beyond what can be accomplished through local engagement.

Financial analysis of assigned partners’ results, identifying key trends and areas of opportunity requiring action. Communication and ongoing performance management with broker.

Assist senior management in compilation of multi-year strategies and plans through market research, secondary research, client, operational and financial performance analysis.

Establish links as appropriate between new business opportunities and the strategic planning process.

Bring critical thinking and breakthrough ideas to executive leadership in an influential manner. Leverages observations, facts, quantitative analysis, customer insights to reach thoughtful and creative decisions while executing with a sense of urgency.

Communicate complex insights to senior business leaders and partners in an actionable manner.

Bridge and drive national strategy through local execution

Qualifications

Minimum of five+ years’ experience in Small Commercial sales or partner management required. Dynamic sales leader with experience managing complex large partnerships and strong sales business acumen.

Experience in P&C markets with large brokers, alternate distributors and other affinity players.

Broad knowledge base across different P&C lines of business.

Understanding of Insurance technology, including contemporary technologies and platform integrations (ex. APIs).

Demonstrated experience developing strategic distribution partnerships.

Strategic and critical thinker with significant experience successfully building and executing upon strategy involving multiple business areas such as service and product. Visionary who can build and execute long-term strategy.

Strong communication and executive presence both verbal and written; proficient in presentation building and presenting.

Excellent track record for building and executing on strategy for growth and of successfully navigating a fast moving always changing market.

Continuous learner who stays abreast of market trends, changes in market conditions, and competitor activity and respond accordingly.

Able to work collaboratively with exceptional influencing skills to gain support for strategies required; able to influence and lead people and projects, using data and research to support recommendations.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.

Willing and able to travel as required; 35% travel expected.

CompensationThe listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
