Sullivan Automotive a dealership with multiple locations in Torrington and Avon Connecticut is seeking a Sales Manager. The Sales Manager is responsible for the successful operations and profitability of the Sales Department through effective personnel management, establishing performance standards, monitoring sales, gross profit generation, guest retention, expense control, and measuring the performance of salespeople, including the Internet, Fleet, Marketing, and BDC.
Responsibilities

Hires, trains, motivates, counsels, and monitors the performance of all sales personnel
Forecast goals and objectives for sales, gross, and key expenses on a monthly and annual basis
Prepares the annual and monthly dealership forecast by projecting unit sales, gross profits, expenses, and operating profits for the new and pre-owned vehicle sales department
Maintains sales department is informed on new vehicle launch dates, model year sell down information and upcoming changes
Reviews financial reports, commissions’ sheets, and productivity reports daily for the Sales Department
Sets sales and gross objectives for new/used car salespeople
Guides all salespeople in setting their new car objectives on a short and long-range basis and assists in the development of programs for improvement
Achieves sales and forecasted goals set
Handles guests concerns that demand management’s attention tactfully, promptly, and with genuine concern for the guest’s problems
Prepares special reports, memoranda’s, and word processing, as needed on current inventory and products using Microsoft Office Software.
Ensures all proper follow-up procedures are being used and maintained by the sales representatives including CRM tool
Monitors the salespeople’s response rate on leads
Provides proper product and training resources for salespeople on a regular and continuous basis
Directs and oversees schedules the activities of all Sales Consultants, ensuring proper staffing at all times
Submits and tracks all new vehicle orders, new vehicle inventory for the dealership
Ensures the dealership maintains adequate mixture of all makes, models, colors, and accessories to meet guest demands
Ensures all new sold units are reported accurately, and in a timely manner in CRM, and manufacturer and necessary third parties
Arranges for delivery and distribution of vehicles in order to expedite flow of vehicle and meet guest demands
Oversees the processing of all dealer trades and ensures proper documents are completed and payments are issued and received
Determines appropriate days supply for new and used vehicles and orders/acquires vehicle inventory accordingly
Acts as a subject matter expert on vehicle models, colors, and accessory product knowledge
Review allocation methodology, sales analysis of build, day supply, trends, incentives.
Establishes standards for displaying merchandising and maintaining new and used vehicles
Creates systems that ensure ongoing sales training, including weekly sales meeting and CRM tool
Assists sales management in closing out deals and funding loans
Appraises trade in vehicles, as needed
Assists in all other areas of the Sales department and performs other administrative duties, as needed
Maintains high ethical standards in all actions
Maintains professional appearance
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Individual should possess:
A high school diploma or equivalent; some college desired
A minimum of three (3) years automotive Sales experience; management experience preferred not required; proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Knowledge of basic mathematical concepts and application; automotive finance; equity values and depreciation; and laws that govern retail automotive sales
Knowledge of automotive operations including purchasing, inventory control, and pricing and repairs; dealership financial statements; principles and processes for providing guest services
Ability to coordinate activities with other employees and to oversee the work of subordinates; read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; interview, hire and develop employees; create and perform corrective actions and performance appraisals; use good judgement in challenging situations; read and comprehend instructions and information in the English language; learn and understand the federal, state, and local laws which govern retail auto sales; work well with the public; communicate in a professional manger on the phone, internet and in person; use standard office equipment; and effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
Must have a valid sales driver’s license and maintain an acceptable and safe driving record
