Consider joining the Duke Energy team, where you'll find a friendly work environment, opportunities for growth and development, recognition for your work, and competitive pay and benefits.To qualify as a Generation Technician Trainee - Shift (GTT - SH) at Crystal River North, the incumbent must first have been qualified as a journeyman mechanic, electrician, or control technician Within a 6-month period the GTT - SH will be responsible for performing routine operations and rounds in the basement area of CRN. Within an 18-month period the GTT - SH will be responsible for achieving operations skills in the following areas: Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) Operations and Wastewater Treatment (WWT) Operations. During this 18-month period, the GTT - SH will undergo training and job shadowing; s/he will perform, under the general guidance of a journeyman, work assignments like those of a Generation Operator (GO), such as conducting plant rounds, assessing plant equipment and systems, and operating station equipment within prescribed parameters. Within a 48-month period the GTT - SH will be responsible for successfully completing the RREF Qualification and Development Program to the level of Control Room Operator. Once trained to the level of Control Room Operator the GTT - SH is contractually obligated to remain in the CRN Operations organization for 12 months. Failure to successfully complete the RREF Qualification and Development Program may result in disqualification from the position. During this 18-month period, the GTT - SH will undergo training and job shadowing; s/he will perform, under the general guidance of a journeyman work assignments like those of a Generation Operator (GO), such as conducting plant rounds, assessing plant equipment and systems for proper operation within prescribed parameters, and performing Progression Maintenance tasks. GTT - SH in the RREF Qualification and Development Program are expected to be able to solve more complex problems with some supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence. They will be expected to effectively apply fundamental concepts and procedures to perform complex work without oversight as they progress through the RREF Qualification and Development Program.Responsibilities

Participate in the RREF Qualification and Development Program to become a GO-III.

First follow the GO qualification process operations track to become control board qualified.

Perform operations work in areas as trained.

Lock Out Tag Out

Become Work Leader qualified within six months of employment.

Become LOTO Desk qualified within twelve months of employment.

Follow RRE Procedures and Processes

Perform the installation, repair and maintenance to facility equipment, systems and components in the journeyman discipline(s) held by incumbent.

Performs corrective and preventive maintenance tasks in the journeyman discipline(s) held by incumbent.

Train employees within the CRN Operations Organization in the journeyman discipline(s) held by incumbent.

Interprets design drawings and O&M manuals in locating and diagnosing trouble in plant equipment, components and systems.

Record the as-found condition as well as the repaired condition in the work management system. Complete WO with notes.

Assists Engineering with modifications/revisions to plant systems, equipment and/or components.

Demonstrates and conducts any required inspections/post-maintenance testing of systems, equipment and components as necessary to complete work packages and ensures systems, equipment and components are returned to operational conditions.

Provides technical support for this work. Maintains accountability of property, including tools and maintenance equipment.

Utilizes P&ID drawings, schematics, and technical specifications in locating and diagnosing trouble in components, equipment, and systems.

Supports all troubleshooting and correcting of maintenance problems in the trained discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, or I&C) of the incumbent.

Support and comply with environmental regulations and safety standards, operational efficiency and unit reliability.

Basic/Required Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED and 3-year related work experience

Must achieve test-recommended score on the Edison Electrical Institute (EEI) MASS, at the I&C level, and the POSS tests.

Preferred Qualifications

Vocational, technical, or military training (practical and theory) in electrical, instrumentation, mechanical

Associate degree, or the military equivalent, in a related technical field preferred.

Three years directly related experience in lieu of a technical degree.

Work experience in a at either a combustion turbine combined cycle, coal, oil, trash recycle, nuclear, or natural gas power station.

Work experience in a Flue Gas Desulphurization system.

Boiler Chemistry experience

Waste Water treatment experience

Water Management experience

Bachelor's degree.

Experience with mechanical, electrical test equipment, heaving equipment rigging, medium voltage maintenance and troubleshooting,

Working Conditions

Field Mobility Classification

Must be able to work 8, 10 or 12 hours shifts, extended hours, nights, weekends and maintain flexibility as plant conditions and events require.

Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as a hardhat, steel toed safety shoes, safety glasses, arc flash protective gear, hearing protection, half and full-face respirators.

Must be able to work around rotating equipment, in extreme heat/cold, electromagnetic fields, be able to climb, climb ladders, crawl, kneel, stand, sit, walk and able to obtain and maintain respirator qualifications.

This position has a safe working weight restriction of 275 lbs as an essential function of the job.
