You will have the opportunity to work in Three of the ten regulatory programs that includes Biomedical Waste, Food, Indoor Air Quality, Swimming pools, mobile home parks and Ocean Sampling. The position also offers an incredible learning/mentoring opportunity for those desiring a career in the environmental health sciences. Reporting to the Facilities Program Consultant, environmental health threats are mitigated through conducting inspections and risk assessments in a variety of facilities. The ideal candidate would be someone passionate about environmental health causes and a desire to develop their scientific, regulatory, and public relations professional skills. The position is based in Daytona Beach, Florida. Most of your daily time will be spent out in the community interacting with the public and inspecting facilities. Each day will also involve some office time for report writing, answering calls and processing inspection-related documents. This is a part time seasonal position. Volusia County is home to over 47 miles of beaches, including the world-famous Daytona Beach, and is one of the fastest growing counties within central Florida. Our offices are surrounded by over 52 miles of paved bicycling trails, over 50 miles of kayaking trails, and two first-magnitude springs, three universities, theatres, museums and a multitude of other cultural opportunities. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of Software programs used by FDOH for environmental health inspections, data collection and analysis Knowledge of Chapter 381 Florida Statutes, associated regulations and Policy 150-4 procedures Knowledge of the policies and procedures for the Public Pools and Facilities Programs within Environmental Health Qualifications: Minimum - Must have knowledge of Software programs used by FDOH for environmental health inspections, data collection and analysis Must have knowledge of Chapter 381 Florida Statutes, associated regulations and Policy 150-4 procedures Must have knowledge of the policies and procedures for the Public Pools and Facilities Programs within Environmental Health Must be able to work in extreme heat, humidity and other inclement weather elementsMust have a Bachelor of Science Degree in a Public Health, Environmental Health, Natural or Physical Science?
