Town of Lake ParkSanitation Truck Operator TraineeUnder the close supervision of the Sanitation foreman, this position is responsible for performing manual and entry-level skilled work as part of a crew to safely and effectively collect and dispose of residential garbage, recyclables, bulk trash, and vegetation. While gaining valuable on-the-job experience, incumbents assist Sanitation Truck Operators I & II in the safe operation of side and rear load garbage packers, trash trucks with an attached grapple boom, skid steer loaders, and tractors with or without attachments. Incumbents of this classification generally assist with the operation of residential sanitation equipment. Assists in the operation of equipment for curbside garbage, recycling, bulk trash, and vegetation pickup. Maintains the Town’s swales, alleys, building grounds and parks as needed. Supports the safe operation of various trucks and equipment in the loading, hauling, and transfer of garbage and other various materials and supplies. Must have high school diploma or equivalent, along with skill in operating air brake-equipped commercial vehicles and/or equipment. Must be proficient in the performance of maintenance inspections of light and medium-duty vehicles and/or equipment. A minimum of six (6)-months’ experience driving air brake-equipped commercial vehicles and/or equipment is preferred. Must have a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver’s License required or the ability to obtain such license within six (6) months from date of employment.Pay range $17.67 to $28.27 per hour.
