Find your place in technology on #TeamAmex.We are seeking a versatile and highly skilled Mainframe Infrastructure Engineer with expertise in Observability tooling across multiple channels (Compute, Storage, Network, Infrastructure and Application Customer Journeys) to drive higher availability and faster incident resolution. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and lead infrastructure solutions, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance.Job Responsibilities:
Provide architectural direction, configuration, and maintenance of various mainframe observability tools from different vendors, i.e. Omegamon, Open Telemetry, Dynatrace, Splunk, Intellimagic, Grafana, IBM Service Management Unite, Netcool, Sahara, NetView etc.
Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for critical infrastructure issues.
Implement standard methodologies for monitoring, logging, and alerting across the infrastructure.
Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
Drive adoption of implemented tooling.
zOS and zLinux platform infrastructure and applications ensuring accurate issue management and root cause analysis/remediation
Engineering large/complex projects with a variety of components and integration points.
Participate in brainstorming and discovery exercises to resolve new technologies based on research, proof of concept efforts and independent investigation
Interact with customers to better understand their objectives, landscape and/or how to identify and solve complex problems/issues
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience with design and implementation of mainframe and distributed applications
Experience with mainframe infrastructure z-platform (z/OS, z/VM, and z/Linux)
Proficiency in monitoring and observability tools (Omegamon, Open Telemetry, Dynatrace, Splunk)
Experience with CI/CD pipeline management and DevOps practices.
Understanding of Customer Journeys, disaster recovery and business continuity planning
Experience with performance tuning.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong industry knowledge of the latest technologies and its relevance to the American Express environment
Deep subject matter domain expertise and knowledge of application processes and business flows
Ability to lead, influence and drive vendor direction to deliver innovated solutions that are beneficial to American Express
Demonstrated exemplary personal integrity and ability to build trust and collaborate across an organization
Strong critical thinking and decision making skills
Experience in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, or related math/science field
Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work well in a diverse team-focused environment
Influence and lead team members with creative thought leadership with data inspired changes and improvements
QualificationsSalary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually bonus benefitsThe above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
