Your experience in the following areas will drive your success in this role:
Operating paving equipment
Following all safety procedures on the job site and reporting any hazards to management
Use of GPS, sonar, and laser guided equipment
Directs the trucks delivering asphalt to the paver, alerting the driver to overhead obstacles and signaling instructions.
Removes asphalt material that may be sticking to conveyors, augers and other parts of paver.
Cleans equipment as necessary during and after work is performed following proper lockout/tag-out procedures.
Qualified candidates must have a thorough understanding of various aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, mix designs, job specifications, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving.
Follow layouts, plans, & foreman direction
We have outlined the skill-set necessary for a candidate's success in this role below:
Minimum of 2-5 years of paving equipment experience
Valid driver license
Considerable knowledge of equipment operations and construction and maintenance procedures including pre-shift equipment inspections and daily logs
Must be competent and knowledgeable pertaining to OSHA operating & safe work requirements
Has practical experience of a year or more within a paving crew performing the duties and responsibilities of a laborer, roller operator and/or screed operator.
Has at least one year of experience operating asphalt paving machines.
Must have a working knowledge of grades and layout
Must be able to travel between site locations
