Commercial fishing boat Capitan looking for a highly motivated deckhand/mate preferably with long time experience on the water, that has a passion for fishing, takes pride in his work & doesn't get home sick.
(Experience on charter or party boats will give you an edge) If you don't have commercial experience expect it to take a couple trips before your comfortable with the system !
I am looking for someone that has spent time on the water in a high paced, high production environment.
Have you ever slept on a boat 100 miles offshore on anchor ?
You need to be able to follow orders well, be quick on your toes, and be a fast learner.
You need basic understanding of Marlinspike Seamanship, Marine navigation & electronics for day & night, be efficient @ tying rigs of different types and be a good multitasker with a flexible attitude. Mechanical knowledge is a bonus.
We will be offshore for 10-14 days straight @ a time, the hours are long, & gruelling and we get very early starts offshore each day. (5 AM) Were on the move before sunrise so you need to be able to wake up early every morning on your own regardless of how many hrs you slept the night before.
12-16 hrs days are to be expected for the duration of each trip.
If you want your position to be locked down then you should show interest & give it your all. If your just looking for part time work till something better comes along. We are not that boat, please look elsewhere.
I will be investing my time & money into you, therefore I need someone that plans to stay the duration, be loyal & earn his stripes.
I prefer positive minded, religious or even spiritually minded individuals to work by my side. Negativity & a bad attitude will result in early termination.
I expect a mature & responsible mate with a good attitude that can dig & grind from day 1 to trips end.
We are not a longline boat.
Were a bandit boat targeting reef fish. Everything we use is electric assist.
This isn't a Sprint it's a marathon and if you're not used to working in the Florida heat in the summertime or the winter storms of the Gulf then your in for a surprise & will have to adapt quickly. Getting sea sick isn't an option unless you want to get dehydrated
