Description INDIRECT TAX MANAGER - Private-Equity backed company in the Fintech industryMy client, a global Fintech company that is private-equity backed, is searching for an Indirect Tax Manager to join their team for an immediate, direct-hire opportunity. The Indirect Tax Manager role is a newly created position that will be responsible for managing Sales and Use Tax (SUT), Goods and Services Tax (GST), Value Added Tax (VAT), property tax, and other indirect taxes across multiple jurisdictions, including the United States, Mexico, Canada, United Kingdom, and Ireland. The successful candidate will work closely with service providers and other accounting and tax professionals to ensure compliance and optimize tax processes.Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate and recommend changes to processes and procedures for implementing SUT software and maintaining internal controls related to indirect taxes.

Support the integration of SUT software with assistance from internal resources and external advisors.

Monitor and assess filing thresholds across all tax jurisdictions; recommend new filings, including Voluntary Disclosure Agreements as needed.

Ensure timely and accurate filing of indirect tax returns, maintaining a calendar of due dates for all subsidiaries.

Maintain balance sheet reconciliations for all indirect tax accounts.

Collaborate with external tax advisors to complete SUT nexus analyses for all domestic subsidiaries.

Understand the foreign subsidiaries and their transactions; ensure accuracy of GST and VAT returns with the help of external tax advisors.

Review contracts to determine proper indirect tax treatment.

Review and maintain reserves for indirect taxes.

Maintain exemption documentation for vendors.

Oversee, manage, and coordinate responses to indirect tax audits, inquiries, and notices.

Stay current with tax regulations related to indirect taxes and advise on their implications, updating relevant stakeholders as appropriate.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including accounting, legal, and finance teams.

Recommend tax technologies to maximize departmental automation and efficiency.

Maintain a repository of all indirect tax returns and related communications.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

5+ years of recent indirect tax experience.

Experience with GST and VAT is preferred.

Strong tax research and computer skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organizational methods and attention to detail.

Team player with a willingness to collaborate.
