As a Principal Software Engineer -Backend Services on the telemetry ingestion pipeline, your responsibilities will include designing and implementing new features to support customer requirements as well as continuously improving the quality and reliability of services responsible for the delivery of customer data to end-user defined destinations. You will also be responsible for collaborating closely with partner teams inside and outside the Observability organization to build simple, maintainable solutions across a suite of services. ResponsibilitiesAs a Principal Software Engineer - Backend Services, you will be responsible for the following:
Collaborate with other teams, both inside and with partners external to the Observability organization to build and maintaininteroperating suites of services that run at extremely high-scale. This involves diagnosing and deploying fixes across deployments that span many regions.
Design, test and develop these services based on internal and external customer requirements.
Optimize the movementof data at scale to iteratively reduce latency, improve the cost of running services, and improve performance against SLI/SLOs.
Be a mentor to developers in your team and help them grow.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C, C#, or .Net
OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, AWS or similar cloud computing platforms.
Experience creating, developing, delivering, deploying, and maintaining online services.
Prior experience working on C# / .NET Core, or building services hosted on Service Fabric.
Hands-on experience building and maintaining REST microservices or with Open Telemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, or related technologies.
Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
