Job Title: Phlebotomist IJob DescriptionThe main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and optimizing workflow. Responsibilities include performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontaminating equipment, and updating patient information. You will collect and store specimens according to established procedures, explain the venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously, demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles, and fully understand all physicians' orders. Additional duties include matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required by test orders, ensuring all test requisitions or computer labels match scripts 100%, packaging specimens for transport, and maintaining specimen integrity by following outlined procedures. Compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations is mandatory.Hard Skills
