Client Care Financial Liaison - VERC Veterinary Emergency + Referral Centerof Hawaii (VERC)is an advanced 24-hour veterinary emergency and specialty hospital. GENERAL OVERVIEW: The role of the Charge Nurse is to accurately capture and charge/invoice for goods and services and assist in training clinical staff on charge capturing best practices. This role is a support function to the medical team and reports directly to the Hospital Director. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Charge Capture

Finalize invoices prior to discharge and ensure the invoices accurately capture services and products provided as needed.

Conduct invoice audits by comparing invoices to SmartFlow treatment sheets, Ezyvet medical records and diagnostic requests.

Use estimates to verify charges when entering charges that have been omitted.

Verify that the correct doctor is listed on all the invoice line items.

Maintain knowledge of hospitalized cases, deposits collected, outstanding balances and insurance status.

Collaborate with hospital leadership, doctors, and established policies to ensure services remain within client budget constraints.

Notify doctor/concierge when a new estimate is needed for hospitalized patients

Apply discounts in accordance with established discounting policies.

Special Accounts

Audit, apply discounts and finalize employee invoices.

Send payment links to employees for services provided.

Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding pet insurance discounts.

Notify admin if employee accounts are 30, 60, 90 days past due.

Manage blood donor invoices.

Subject Matter Expert

Serve as charge capture subject matter expert, training & educational opportunities

Identifies system opportunities to improve charge capture (billing triggers, bundles, processes, etc.)

Willingness to take on other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1 year of work experience Billing/Invoicing, Bookkeeping, Auditing or related field.

Good customer services skills.

Strong communication skills both written and verbal.

Experience with Microsoft Excel and mathematical calculations.

Proficiency with computer, phone, and scanner systems.

Ability to work independently with limited oversight.

Highly skilled in accurately completing data entry and administrative work.

Excellent time management, managing multiple tasks at one time in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in a medical environment with high stress, critical patients and death.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

1 year of work experience in veterinary or human medicine (CSR, Veterinary Assistant, Medical Assistant, etc.)

Work experience utilizing electronic medical records, such as Ezyvet and SmartFlow.

Supervisory and Training experience.
