Our adventure guides work hard but they also make great money, enjoy a robust benefits package, and love the flexible scheduling options.

Most of our tours are full day experiences (14 hours), so our guides typically only work 3 days a week. Overtime is available during the busy season and bonuses are awarded twice a year.

You will also provide helpful tips on other attractions, features, and popular locations that are prevalent among tourists to help ensure our guests enjoy their stay and especially their tour with Kailani Tours Hawaii. Support management as needed in all facets of the tour operations.

Responsibilities

Inspect assigned vehicle, supplies and manifest prior to departure

Greet all guests with ‘Aloha’ promptly at scheduled tour times

Outline the tour and timeline before beginning, ensuring timely expectations

Determine if any guests have physical restrictions or limitations that should be considered

Clearly and articulately provide factual information to guests in an engaging manner, thought-provoking, and entertaining

Answer any questions that the guests have or promise to get the answer

Demonstrate extensive knowledge of our island and related topics

Remain calm, friendly, and enthusiastic at all times

Guide, escort, and provide the utmost care for our guests, taking breaks as needed

Keep vehicle tidy during tour breaks

Complete all paperwork accurately and fill out forms as required

Report to management as required

Perform other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications, Skills

High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree is a plus

Great public speaking and communication skills

Previous work experience in customer service; prior experience as a tour guide a plus

Able to memorize and recite facts clearly and accurately

Friendly, polite, customer oriented

Exceptional communication skills in English; bilingual guide a plus

Basic computer skills, including email and word processing

Available to work on weekends and holidays

Must have and maintain valid Hawaii driver license and a clean driving record

Ability to lift 35 pounds or more

Ability to complete paper and digital reports and forms

Capable of handling customer situations with tact and professionalism

Accept personal responsibility for core outcomes (accurate, on-time deliverables)

Mathematical skills: Basic mathematical skills; adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.

Technology: Ability to type and work on a computer including email, software applications, and online. Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, Office, Adobe Acrobat, and others.

Reasoning ability: Ability to apply common reasoning and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with and solve problems. Proven history of using good judgment.

Physical demands: The duties of this job require the employee to regularly drive a tour vehicle, sit, walk, stand, use hands to handle or hold objects, use a writing instrument, computer, and other equipment, telephone; and speak and listen in person and by telephone. The employee is frequently required reach forward, sideways, and overhead with hands and arms. The employee may be required to stoop, kneel, and bend as well. The employee must frequently drive tour vehicles.
