Job Description:Responsible for the protection and safety of employees, patients, and visitors while on hospital property. Acts as supervisor by directing, evaluating, scheduling, staffing, and monitoring other security personnel while also performing security officer duties.Job Essentials
Supervises security staff which may include security officers, parking attendants/valets, or other related personnel. Hires, schedules, cascades communication to, evaluates, directs, and as needed, disciplines, or terminates personnel. Creates an environment conducive to employee engagement.
Ensures policies and procedures are understood and followed by staff, and ensures staff is properly trained and, where needed, certified for their job requirements and certifies record keeping is current.
Performs the duties of a security officer as a working supervisor, including responding to internal incidents, securing the campus, escorting visitors/patients/employees, completing reports, etc. May perform security specialty duties such as managing canines, handling training, overseeing safety, or emergency preparedness duties, but is primarily a supervisor.
Reviews incident reports and ensures accurate and well-written documentation, gathers data and prepares reports as requested, and provides input on budget needs.
May oversee security, safety, or other programs as directed (e.g. Taser, Hazmat, Emergency Drills, Lost and Found, etc.) Minimum Qualifications
Have and maintain a Utah Driver's License.
Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
Three years law enforcement or security service experience.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills by deescalating tense, emotional situations and remaining composed under stress.
Demonstrated ability to remember details and recount accurately.
Demonstrated effective communication skills both verbally and in writing. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
Certification by the International Association of Hospital Security.
Experience in Behavioral Health settings (for campuses with Behavioral Health units).
