Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Controller in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role will involve supporting our CFO in handling all financial operations of our properties, managing finance/accounting teams, and creating financial policies. This role is ideal for someone who is ready to take on a short term contract employment opportunity in the real estate development and management industry.Responsibilities: Assist the CFO in overseeing and managing internal controls, and accounting procedures Prepare financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis in conjunction with the CFO Complete Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and daily financial transactions Assist with multi-state tax issues and filings, including Property Tax and Real Estate Tax Analyze and interpret financial data for the purpose of accurate and timely reporting of business performance Participate in the ongoing development and improvement of internal processes, implementing new systems and technologies when required Support month-end and year-end close processes Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process Ensure the company's financial compliance with state, federal, and local legal requirements Develop and implement efficient accounting processes Provide guidance to financial/accounting staff, fostering a team-oriented environment Manage internal controls to minimize business risk. Requirements Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role such as Assistant Controller or related financial position. Demonstrated proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management. Solid understanding of property tax and real estate tax procedures. Experience in analyzing financial statements and preparing financial reports. Familiarity with risk assessment processes and techniques. Proficiency in using MRI Software for property accounting. Experience in property accounting and real estate accounting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred. Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is a plus.
