About the Family & Social Services Administration (FSSA): FSSA was established by the Indiana General Assembly in 1991 to consolidate and better integrate the delivery of human services by state government. FSSA is a health care and social services funding agency. Ninety-four percent of the agency’s total budget is paid to thousands of service providers ranging from major medical centers to a physical therapist working with a child or adult with a developmental disability. The seven care divisions in FSSA administer services to more than 1.5 million Hoosiers. FSSA’s mission is to compassionately serve Hoosiers of all ages and connect them with social services, health care and their communities. Salary : This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $53,222. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package: https://in.accessgov.com/spd/Forms/Page/spd/compensation-calculator/ Role Overview: The Director of Staff Development for the Office of Healthy Opportunities (OHO) provides agency-wide training, support, and engagement opportunities for FSSA staff, ensuring they have the knowledge, training, and skills to navigate diverse populations with complex circumstances. You will engage agency divisions to plan, develop, and implement training and professional development opportunities. This includes ensuring staff have an adequate understanding of service barriers and can work effectively with service populations. You will lead the agency's onboarding strategy for newly hired staff. You will ensure that staff know agency resources, policies, and other tools to promote success. You will monitor retention trends to facilitate employee satisfaction, engagement, healthy workplace habits, and retention. Key outcomes for this role include:

Improve retention and recruitment of diverse staff members who represent service populations.

Increase staff knowledge about concepts of social risk factors among FSSA staff.

Increase staff knowledge about high-risk populations.

Support transparency for complaints and employee experiences.

Reduce staff perceptions of division-level silos across the agency.

A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows:

Partner with others to understand their specific training and staff development needs, conducting thorough needs assessments and gap analyses.

Design, develop, and implement comprehensive training programs that align with company goals and employee development needs.

Develop engaging training materials, including presentations, e-learning modules, case studies, and simulations.

Provide expert guidance on the most effective training methods, formats, and delivery options based on the client's objectives and resources.

Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics, adjusting content and delivery as needed.

Deliver high-impact training sessions using a variety of facilitation techniques, ensuring active participation and skill acquisition.

Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in training and development, bringing fresh ideas to client engagements.

Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure the accuracy and relevance of training content.

Assist clients in establishing career development paths and strategies to foster employee growth and retention.

Offer insights and recommendations on improving existing training programs and processes.

Prepare detailed training proposals, including scope, objectives, methodologies, and timelines.

Manage multiple client projects simultaneously, maintaining clear communication and meeting project deadlines.

Build and nurture strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor in the field of training and staff development.

a Master’s Degree and 1+ years of experience, or

a Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of experience, or

an Associate's Degree and 5+ years of experience, or

at least 7+ years of experience applying the below, outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role.

Additional qualifications:

Broad knowledge and understanding of adult learning theories, instructional design principles, and training evaluation methods.

Demonstrated ability to design and deliver effective training programs across various formats (in-person, virtual, blended).

Extensive presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.

Ability to assess training needs, gather data, and make data-driven recommendations.

Proficiency in using learning management systems (LMS) and other training technologies.

Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.

Collaborative and adaptable, capable of working with cross-functional teams and adjusting to client needs.

Broad consulting experience and the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.

Passion for continuous learning and a commitment to staying current with industry trends.
