Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in the transport industry based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa area. The individual will play a key role in managing multistate payroll for a 300+ employee payroll ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and maintaining accurate payroll records. Responsibilities: Manage the processing of multistate payroll efficiently and accurately in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and business requirements Handle wage garnishments, including calculations and deductions, in accordance with federal and state regulations Keep accurate records of sick time, vacation time, and holiday pay for all employees Provide payroll information and resolve any discrepancies by responding to questions and requests from employees Collaborate with the HR department to ensure accurate and updated data registration of new hires and terminations Assist with the preparation of payroll reports, statements, records, and checks for the finance department Maintain confidentiality of all payroll data and ensure efficient and organized payroll records at all times Leverage skills in Full Cycle Payroll, Garnishment Calculations, Payroll - Garnishments, Multistate Payroll, Weekly Payroll, and Payroll - Over 500 Employees to effectively execute tasks.Requirements Proficiency in Full Cycle Payroll Ability to perform Garnishment Calculations Experience with Payroll - Garnishments Knowledge of Multistate Payroll processing Experience in managing Weekly Payroll Capability to handle Payroll for Over 500 Employees Familiarity with the transport industry is preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Detail-oriented with high level of accuracy Strong problem-solving abilities Exceptional organizational skills Good understanding of payroll regulations and requirements Proficiency in relevant computer software and applications Ability to maintain confidentiality of payroll information Excellent time management skills to meet tight deadlines Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
