Job DescriptionThe Iowa Governor's Traffic Safety Bureau (GTSB) has a mission to identify traffic safety issues and through partnerships with city, county, state, and local organizations, develop and implement strategies to reduce death and injury on Iowa's roadways using federally funded grants to improve traffic safety in the State of Iowa. The GTSB is seeking a dedicated staff member to work with us as ourTraffic Safety Data Coordinator. This position serves as the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau expert and technical specialist with advanced knowledge of traffic safety data systems, and assists managerial/program staff, industry and community groups, governmental agencies, universities and education institutions, and law enforcement agencies regarding traffic safety data programs at the State, regional and national level. This position serves as a professional specialist with independent responsibility for the development of the statewide Traffic Records program area of the Highway Safety Plan; directs oversight of grant development with State and local agencies; and monitors and evaluates Traffic Records grant programs statewide. Primary Responsibilities: Provide direction, oversight and coordination of traffic crash data analysis and support at the State, regional and national level, and prepare the Traffic Records section of the Highway Safety Plan. Oversee federally funded highway safety projects to ensure compliance with federal regulations by managing the application process, contractual process, training contractors, monitoring grants for compliance, and reviewing finance claims. Monitor and report quarterly on program activity of grantees regarding compliance, problems, and achievements. Represent the GTSB as the traffic records program coordinator at local, State, regional and national highway safety meetings, conferences, workshops, training seminars and other activities. Review current GTSB federal section programs. Make programmatic decisions and confirm with advisement from the Bureau Chief and NHTSA and implement the program in a manner that meets federal guidelines. Make planning suggestions regarding future direction to aid the special section programs. Serve on Iowa’s Statewide Traffic Records Coordinating Committee that establishes quantifiable and measurable improvements in the State's core traffic safety databases, including crash, citation or adjudication, driver, emergency medical services or injury surveillance system, roadway, and vehicle databases. Communicate with local, county and state law enforcement and other personnel to determine and encourage participation in safety programs promoted by GTSB. What We Offer:

Minimum Qualification RequirementsApplicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:1) Seven years of full-time work experience in the administration or operation/execution (i.e., providing consultation and/or technical assistance to stakeholders, research and analysis, or enforcement of program guidelines/policies/procedures) of a program (i.e., the provision of a service or an administrative oversight/enforcement responsibility).2) All of the following (a, b, and c):a. One year of full-time work experience in the administration or operation/execution (i.e., providing consultation and/or technical assistance to stakeholders, research and analysis, or enforcement of program guidelines/policies/procedures) of a program (i.e., the provision of a service or an administrative oversight/enforcement responsibility); andb. A total of four years of education and full-time experience (as described in part a), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience; andc.
