The Certification Engineer position is responsible for Fisher instrument product certification for hazardous locations. This project management and design advisory role provides a key interface between engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and third-party approvals agencies. The successful candidate will take the lead in coordinating with external and internal parties, and undertake the following responsibilities:Position located in Marshalltown, IA. Relocation assistance provided for successful out of state candidate.In This Role Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Project management of certification projects including scheduling and tracking of activities required to acquire certificates in the time frame needed for customer demand. Regularly communicate progress via written and oral means to team members and other stakeholders.
Collaborate with peers and other departments to ensure that the products and documents align with established procedures and internal and external standards.
Create documentation required by national and international standards for products intended for use in hazardous locations.
Schedule lab tests and write compliance reports with respect to the hazardous locations approval standards.
Review, analyze, and understand changes to standards associated with our products. Propose and execute product strategies needed for compliance to the appropriate hazardous location standards.
Support audits of the safety program by external entities.
For This Role You Will Need
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or BS Electrical Engineering Technology. Other engineering disciplines may be considered if electronics capability is demonstrated in experience or coursework.
A minimum of 5 years of industrial product experience is required
Familiarity with standards, procedures and general product specifications as they relate to product design and customer use
Ability to plan and track progress for multiple projects from a timing and cost perspective and communicate progress. Follow-up in a pro-active fashion when dealing with third-party agencies.
Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, mechanical drawings, industry standards, and technical documents.
Solid communications skills using modern tools.
Understanding of Intrinsic Safety concepts and Explosion Proof concepts as applied to industrial hazardous areas is a plus. Must be able to guide preparations of drawings, applications, and supplemental documents associated with various global third-party approval agencies.
