Minimum QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Licensure as either a Licensed Professional Counselor or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist by the Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners; plus two years of professional level counseling experience. Job ConceptsFUNCTION OF WORK: To provide intensive developmental and therapeutic assessment and treatment in serious or complicated cases that require a range of therapeutic and intervention skills. LEVEL OF WORK: Advanced. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Broad from a licensed behavioral health professional or higher-level manager or administrator. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May provide functional supervision to lower-level counselors and other direct care providers. LOCATION OF WORK: May be used by all state agencies. Conducts complex assessments and independent selection and use of varied in-depth therapies in the treatment of individuals with multi-problem dual diagnosis substance abuse problems (as defined by the Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners in Rule (LAC 46:LX.503.e)). Develops and plans casework services and treatment for individuals with specialized problems in development, retardation, maladjustment, or dependency. Develops and plans services that address and/or include family therapy, marital counseling, child abuse and sexual abuse therapy, major family disruption, developmental disabilities, death, and suicide. May provide training in caseload principles and practices and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulation, and agency policy and procedures. May serve as a lead-worker. May provide expert testimony and recommendations on behalf of clients in court cases in response to judges and other officers of the court.Serves as liaison and coordinator between individuals, their families, the community, and service providers.
