Minimum QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice architecture.Job ConceptsFunction of Work:To apply architectural principles, theories, concepts, methods, and techniques in the planning, design, construction, and/or inspection of either state owned buildings or other buildings that are required to meet the building safety, handicap accessibility and energy codes as established by State and Federal Authorities.Level of Work:Experienced.Supervision Received:Close from an Architect 4.Supervision Exercised:May exercise functional supervision over Architect 1's.Location of Work:May be used by all state agencies.Job Distinctions:Differs from Architect 1 by the presence of the requirement of a Louisiana license to practice architecture.Differs from Architect 3 by the absence of performing advanced journeyman duties or by the absence of responsibility for being an agency's ranking architect in an agency that has a staff of less than 3 architects.Examples of WorkMonitors and initiates general correspondence and coordinates implementation of required changes, to ongoing construction projects.Consults with Design Professionals assigned to capital projects.Contacts user-clients and makes on-site visits relating to preparing architectural programs for selected projects.Assist user-clients in formulating Capital Outlay requests, travel and consultation relating to these requests. Reviews capital requests and makes recommendations to Agency administrators.Designs and produces construction documents; observes construction on selected projects.Reviews (in concert with user-clients, appointed Design Professionals and facility planning and construction) each phase of the planning for capital construction projects.Periodically reviews codes, regulations and standards to keep abreast of changes to the current relevant codes affecting publicly and privately owned facilities throughout the state.Reviews and analyzes construction plans of mercantile occupancies, assembly occupancies, schools, office buildings, healthcare occupancies, detention occupancies, hotel occupancies, storage facilities, and industrial facilities to determine compliance with adopted fire safety codes, handicapped accessibility codes, and energy codes.Conducts inspections of general occupancy types, complicated occupancy types, large penal institutions, hospitals, high-rise buildings, malls, bulk fuel facilities, universities, etc.Attends technical seminars.Louisiana State Government represents a wide variety of career options and offers an outstanding opportunity tomake a differencethrough public service.
