Sr. Accountant

Description We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity in the Biddeford, Maine area. We're looking for a Senior Accountant who is equipped to handle various accounting responsibilities and tasks, with a focus on the Accounts Payable Process. Responsibilities: Perform Balance Sheet Reconciliation to verify the integrity of balance sheet accounts. Carry out Bank Reconciliations to ensure the company's financial records are in sync with bank statements. Manage and update the General Ledger to track all financial transactions. Prepare and post Journal Entries to record financial transactions. Utilize Microsoft Excel for managing and analyzing financial data. Oversee the Month End Close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Handle accounts payable processes and manage any AP related issues.Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Minimum of five years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the education sector. Advanced proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations. Demonstrable experience in maintaining General Ledger and processing Journal Entries. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must. Experience with Month End Close procedures. Deep understanding of Accounts Payable (AP) processes. Familiarity with Banner or similar accounting software. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
