City of Portland - Water Resources - Senior TechnicianWATER RESOURCES SENIOR TECHNICIAN - Public WorksWater Resources Division Up to $2,500 Sign On Bonus AvailableThe WR Senior Technician is the lead Operations and Maintenance position in the WR section. This position performs a variety of skilled and lead maintenance work on WR Facilities, sanitary and storm water systems, operates a variety of light and heavy equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance and replacement of City, sanitary and storm water systems and pump stations, and operates and maintain the closed-circuit television equipment used to inspect and assess the conditions in the City's storm water and sanitary sewer system (including combined sewers). This person will typically work outside on the streets of the City, establishing safe traffic control methods and safe vehicle use.Requirements: High school graduation or GED or any equivalent combination of experience and training Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to meet and converse tactfully with the public and to utilize conflict resolution skills when interacting with the public. Thorough knowledge of Sewer Collections Systems and Stormwater Drainage Systems. Ability to make out clear and accurate reports as required for work orders, operating records and accident reports. Ability to use City Works CMMS to plan, and record system maintenance. Considerable knowledge of sewer and storm water line construction techniques. Ability to diagnose and repair sewer and storm water line malfunctions. Ability to operate and maintain sewer televised inspection equipment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, plans and records. Ability to read and interpret Maine Dig Safe rules and Maine Public Utilities Commission laws; thorough knowledge of safety hazards and precautions associated with Wastewater construction and maintenance work; ability to maintain pumping station equipment and perform pumping station inspections. Ability to work independently and make sound judgments. Thorough knowledge of sewer inspections and condition assessment as obtained through CCTV and ITPipes Condition Assessment with NASSCO; and knowledge of the tools, equipment, methods, materials and skills used in a variety of construction and maintenance activities. Experience operating person computers and Google Suite programs. Completion of OSHA approved work zone safety certification course.Necessary Special Requirements: Must possess a valid Maine Class A or B driver's license and must have and maintain good driving record. Must possess grade IV New England Collection System Certification. Must possess NASSCO PACP and MACP certification. Must undergo a pre-employment medical exam and lift assessment and pass federally mandated drug test. A $2.00 stipend will be paid for possession of grade IV New England Collection System certification. Preference will be given to applicants who possess the necessary licenses.
