As a member of our team, you will shape the direction of next generation renewable energy products at Generac. You must have a genuine passion for engineering products that will fundamentally change the world’s energy infrastructure and thrive working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.Position is located in our S. Portland, ME office.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Define early architecture and control techniques of next generation power electronics including figure of merit-based architecture down selection.

Create early prototypes on hardware to validate proof of concept specifications and performance. Explore the limit of capability of hardware.

Develop innovative control algorithms on early prototypes of switch mode power electronics. Optimize control technique based on mission profile definition.

Define systems diagrams and integration at a multi-discipline level inclusive of electrical/mechanical/firmware/software) to create a cohesive/integrated home battery storage ecosystem

Specify DSP/FPGA/uC control hardware necessary for topology implementation.

Strong aptitude for testing/validation and identifying product gaps. Holds themselves and teams to excellent quality standards.

Is the engineering product leader that understands the ‘big picture’ and drives answers to open-ended questions for the team.

Shares information quickly and knows all the stakeholders on a program.

Comfortable challenging engineering decisions cross-functionally.

Minimal Qualifications:

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering

8+ years of system design experience on (10k+) volume products and 5+ years in an architect or technical product owner role.

Product architect experience in electrical or firmware engineering.

Experience with modeling techniques using PLECS or equivalent software

Experience with switch mode power electronics including DC-DC converters, power management, power conversion and control

Capable of delivering top quality C code in a real time embedded environment.

Excellent software fundamentals including architectural design, algorithm development, data structures, code modularity, and maintainability.

Multithreaded and RTOS experience. Experience with communication interfaces on embedded systems such as RS-485, CAN, SPI, I2C is desired.

Experience with test driven development experience using unit testing, software in the loop, or hardware in the loop methodologies.
