Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Edgewater, Maryland. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for a range of financial tasks, including ensuring timely payments to suppliers, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with various financial schedules. Your role will be crucial in maintaining financial health and transparency in our organization.Responsibilities: Manage general ledger cash balances and ensure accuracy. Maintain vendor accounts to enable prompt and accurate payment. Prepare bank reconciliations and address any discrepancies. Assist in the preparation of weekly cash reports for management. Prepare and submit all Sales & Use Tax returns, ensuring timely payment of any amount due. Assist with the preparation of year-end special filings such as US Census report, personal property tax returns, and income & expense questionnaire. Investigate and resolve financial questions or issues that arise. Reconcile intercompany account balances on a regular basis. Prepare annual 1099 tax reports for vendors. Assist with front desk coverage as required. Perform other duties as assigned by the Finance Department supervisors. Requirements Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or a related field. Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) processes. Demonstrated experience with Bank Reconciliations. Familiarity with General Ledger operations. Experience in making Journal Entries. Knowledge of Month End Close procedures. Proficiency in using NetSuite accounting software. Experience in Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation. Strong skills in Financial Analysis. Proficiency in Excel Formulas and Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organizational and time management skills.
