Collect patient information/history, taking vitals and performing screenings per provider guidelines. Use sterile technique to prepare procedure rooms and surgical trays. Comply with all company policies and procedures in adherence to HIPAA regulations. Obtain a pertinent patient history and physical, communicating the information back to the dermatologic surgeon. Describe removal of the lesion, repair options, and postoperative wound care. Assist with documentation in EMR. Record, manage, and update malignant and non-malignant pathology results in log. Drape and prepare surgical site while maintaining sterile field, numb surgical site by injecting local anesthesia, achieve hemostasis using handheld cautery device, bandage patients appropriately based on surgical site. Assist physician during all procedures (passing instruments, blotting, cutting sutures, etc). Additional direct patient care responsibilities available with experience. Opportunities for clinical research and may be available for interested students.
