Job Description

We are looking for great teachers to come join our team! Little Planet Preschool is a new center in Winchester MA and we are looking to hire Preschool Teachers. Job Qualifications

1.Meets all EEC licensing requirements for Teacher; holds an EEC Preschool Teacher Certificate.

2.Displays excellent written and verbal communication skills.

3.Reliable transportation.

4.Previous experience caring for preschoolers preferred.

5.CDA, Associates or Bachelors degree in Early Childhood desirable.

6.Willingness to continue ongoing professional development in Early Childhood.

General Responsibilities

1.Planning, supervising and implementing the program for the preschool classroom assigned in accordance with the policies and philosophy of Little Planets Preschool.

2.Ensuring the health, safety and well-being of the children assigned at all times, being alert for needs and concerns of the children as individuals and as a group.

Planning Curriculum and Activities

1.Plans and implements appropriate daily learning activities appropriate to the age and developmental levels of all children in the classroom.

2.Uses formal and informal observations and assessment as well as knowledge of child development to implement successful teaching strategies and support learning.

3.Identifies and uses appropriate materials and resources to promote active learning by a full range of children in the classroom.

4.Creates an environment that supports children’s practice of skills in relevant, authentic ways through the use of materials and toys.

Manages Classroom Climate

1.Maintains appropriate standards of behavior, mutual respect, social and emotional wellbeing and health and safety.

2.Maintains classrooms routines and procedures that are consistent and predictable for all children.

3.Treats all children, families and colleagues with respect; models respectful interactions for children.

4.Supervises children in positive ways that support their behavior, self-esteem and learning.

Manages Classroom Practices that Meet Program and EEC Compliance

1.Becomes familiar with and implements program philosophy and practices; becomes aware of and implements EEC licensing regulations.

5.Completes at least two annual progress reports for children that clearly identify their skills, needs and goals.

6.Meets with families at least twice a year to review child progress reports; meets with families as needed or requested throughout the year.

7.Identifies and puts a plan in place for children who need additional support; seeks help from director when needed.

8.Attends monthly staff meetings.

9.Completes at a minimum 20 hours annually of early childhood professional development, at least five hours of which pertains to diverse learners.

10.Reflects critically upon his or her teaching practices, identifies areas for further professional growth; receptive to suggestions and feedback from supervisor.

11.Understands legal and ethical standards and applies them to all practices and interactions, including use of the Internet and social media.

12.Maintains confidentiality of families, staff and program.

13.Maintains accurate attendance records throughout the day; ensures that no child is left alone.

14.Notifies director immediately of any suspected child abuse or neglect; follows the program’s policies and procedures for suspected abuse and neglect.
