Throughout the course of the internship experience, we deliver diverse personal and professional development opportunities that further develop skillsets that can be implemented both during and after the program. What you will be doing as a Corporate Communications Intern :Interns in this area will be a part of the team that is responsible for supporting and executing external strategic communications efforts that help position the organization for success in a very competitive industry.Interns will report to a Meijer Corporate Communications Manager and gain experience with:S tory mining and drafting thought leadership posts and community engagement content for its community siteWork with internal clients to identify and execute relevant news announcements.Leverage the team’s measurement tools to share communications successes with its internal clients.Support communications efforts for the 2024 Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give , an LPGA tour event at Blythefield Country Club, which benefits the retailer’s hallmark hunger relief program.The intern may also get exposure to other activities of the function, including:Media relations support for corporate announcementsWriting external communicationsCollaborating with the Social Media and Internal Communications teams to share positive news stories.Qualifications :
Progress toward a bachelor's or advanced degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or a related field, with a preference for Spring 2025 graduates
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as experience using Teams
Drive for Results: Has focus on the bottom line
Customer Focus: Dedicated to meeting expectations of internal and external customers
Relationship Skills: Can create positive working relationships with customers, team members, leadership, and other internal and external clients
Communication Skills: Conveys the right information in writing and verbally, with emphasis on business writing and grammar usage

Priority Setting: Can quickly and independently make decisions to accomplish goals
