Description We are searching for a meticulous Payroll Clerk to join our team located in Lansing, Michigan. The role involves managing payroll operations, garnishments, benefits, and tax deductions while also handling part-time student payroll and new hire set-ups. This is a short-term contract employment opportunity in a dynamic workplace.Responsibilities: Oversee and manage payroll procedures and ensure timely and accurate processing. Handle union payroll requirements in accordance with established guidelines. Manage garnishment calculations and withholdings to ensure compliance with legal regulations. Oversee part-time student payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely payment. Manage time cards, ensuring accurate record-keeping and processing. Administer benefits payroll, ensuring appropriate deductions and allocations. Handle tax deductions in payroll, ensuring compliance with IRS regulations. Set up new hires in the payroll system, ensuring accurate data entry and onboarding. Manage bi-monthly payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate payment to all staff. Handle IRS W-2 forms, ensuring accurate completion and submission.Requirements Must possess a deep understanding of bi-Monthly Payroll processes. Proficiency in handling Union Payroll is required. Should be able to perform Garnishment Calculations accurately. Knowledge of Withholdings is essential. Experience in managing Benefits Payroll is necessary. Familiarity with IRS W-2 Forms is a must. Must be capable of efficiently conducting Onboarding processes. Must be able to handle confidential information with discretion. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required. Proficiency in using payroll software and other related computer applications. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure. Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred. Prior experience in a similar role in the education sector is a plus.
