ResponsibilitiesThe Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the professional nurses in the delivery of patient care. Under direction of the staff nurse, the nursing assistant may deliver routine personal care, perform simple routine procedures that are non-invasive and report any unusual findings to the charge nurse or care nurses. The Nursing Assistant is expected to incorporate and demonstrate the message of Unity Family Healthcare’s stated philosophy and mission in daily performance of duties. The nursing assistant serves in a multidisciplinary capacity providing general services to a wide variety of populations including pediatric, medical, surgical, ambulatory, orthopedic, geriatric, post-partum, and nursery areas.Essential Key Job Responsibilities
Adheres to all prescribed infection control precautions (standard, contact, isolation, droplet)
Obtain and document vital signs including temperature, pulse, respirations, pain level per care plan
Obtain bedside blood glucose according to care plan, documents results, notifies nurse
Assists and collects with specimens: stool urine, sputum per orders
Implements falls prevention techniques per care plan
Apply and remove anti embolism stockings per care plan
Apply and remove sequential compression devices per care plan
Assist and record patient nutritional and fluid intake per care plan
Assist and perform patient hygiene activities per care plan
Assist and perform perineal cares per care plan
Reports changes in skin condition to nursing staff
Assist and perform urinary catheter cares per care plan
Assist and perform patient mobility
Turning/repositioning
Ambulation
Passive range of motion
Applies ice packs per patient care plan
Documents all activities in electronic medical record
Other duties as assigned within NAR scope of practice
