This position will conduct comprehensive project management of sites enrolled in the MPCA Brownfields Program. This includes issuing legal assurances and providing technical assistance under State statute and approving response actions to mitigate risk to human health during development of contaminated properties.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in an environmental science area and two years of professional experience doing professional-level environmental protection or pollution control experience and project management (including environmental investigations with an understanding of the principles of remediation, soil, groundwater, surface water and soil gas investigations).ORThree years professional-level experience doing professional-level environmental protection or pollution control experience and project management (including environmental investigations with an understanding of the principles of remediation, soil, groundwater, surface water and soil gas investigations).AND the ability to:Develop and implement work plans.Independently complete assignments in a timely manner.Understanding of the environmental regulatory process and procedures.Effectively coordinate and serve as a team member and understand the environmental, social and economic impacts of procurement.Engage and communicate with diverse stakeholders and team members.The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will not sponsor applicants for work visas. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.Preferred QualificationsExperience in the field of Brownfield assessment and or environmental investigations and cleanup, with air and water quality, hazardous waste or stormwater regulations, energy efficiency, environmental best management practices or pollution prevention issues.Knowledge of federal, state and local environmental laws, rules, regulations and standards, and/or related to environmental liability.Demonstrated ability to conclude projects and make human health and environmental decisions based on data.Experience with public communications efforts on health or environmental projects for diverse stakeholders with differing interests.Customer service skills and abilities.Experience working in teams and experience with conflict resolution.Physical RequirementsAlthough a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.Additional RequirementsPosition duties may require travel but driving is not a minimum qualification or essential function of this position.
