The role may also provide support and resources for Student Government. The Director provides leadership and direction for campus events/programs related to student involvement and student leadership development. This position directs the work of various staff within Campus Involvement including two Assistant Directors, graduate assistants, interns and student employees. At times, the Director may direct work of an office manager. The Director is responsible for making recommendations to the Executive Director of Atwood and Campus Involvement with regard to departmental budgets, contracts, etc., The Director conducts crisis management and problem solving as needed, ensuring development and implementation of risk management policies/procedures , making recommendations to the Executive Director, the University Legal Advisor, and the Vice President of Strategic Enrollment and Student Affairs to reduce liability issues for student focused campus events and programs.Responsibilities

The Director is responsible for visionary leadership and administrative oversight for the Huskies Events and Activities Team (HEAT), student organizations and Greek Life. This includes developing strategic plans, goals and measurable objectives for these areas, ensuring alignment with CAS Standards and University strategic plans.

Responsible for directing daily work and providing coaching and mentorship to the Assistant Directors of Campus Involvement (2), graduate assistants/interns and student employees and may at times direct the work of the office manager.

The Director provides leadership and oversight in the coordination and planning of campus civic and community engagement programs including but not limited to, annual Days of Service, Service Scholarships, the Lemonade Concert and Arts Fair, Bigs on Campus, and Excellence in Leadership, etc., In addition, the Director will serve as the university's voter engagement coordinator

On behalf of the entire Department of Campus Involvement, plans, implements and leads program level assessment that aligns with departmental, division and institutional priorities, CAS standards, and the University's strategic plan.

The Director provides leadership in ensuring effective collaboration and partnership with internal and external partners and stakeholders involved in student involvement and civic engagement initiatives and programs.

Provide oversight and management of identified cost centers within the Department of Campus Involvement, facilitating contracts, and making recommendations to the Executive Director regarding overall operating budget for Campus Involvement.

Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Atwood and Campus Involvement or Vice President of Strategic Enrollment and Student Affairs.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration or related field.

Minimum of three (3) years full-time, leadership experience in two or more of the following areas: civic engagement, service and volunteer programs, large-scale event planning, student organization administration, and Greek Life.

Significant professional experience with assessment/evaluation of higher education student programs and applicable national standards.

Advanced professional experience with program development and administration, policy creation and administration, and establishing/maintaining campus ­community partnerships.

Demonstrated commitment to serving diverse populations.

Evidence of strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Proven ability to develop and sustain internal and external partnerships.

Knowledge and practice in applying student development theory to support student engagement and service.

Computer proficiency with Microsoft products, web-based survey tools, student engagement platforms.

Preferred Qualification

Previous experience advising University students/organizations.

Knowledge of legal issues and risk management as it relates to student engagement and service.

Experience managing operational budgets.

Proven ability to write, secure, administer and evaluate local, state and national grants.

Other Requirements

Some evening and/or weekend work is required, Some overnight and weekend travel for professional development, conferences, and trainings.

Periodic long workdays when events are occurring.

Ability to lift and move boxes and supplies up to 40 pounds.
