Description We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team in KANSAS CITY, Kansas. The role will primarily involve general ledger accounting and budgeting, with a focus on managing grants. This position is an integral part of our non-profit team, offering a contract to hire employment opportunity. Responsibilities: Conduct general ledger (GL) accounting tasks with precision and attention to detail Develop and manage budgets, ensuring financial stability and sustainability Oversee forecasting activities to predict future financial trends Administer financial management of 70-100 grants simultaneously Collaborate with various team members to ensure all financial operations are running smoothly Utilize Microsoft Excel for various accounting tasks Participate in team meetings, contributing to financial strategy discussions Ensure financial compliance with non-profit regulations and standards Respond to financial inquiries from internal and external stakeholders Assist with other accounting-related tasks as needed. Requirements Possession of a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a professional services environment. Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Strong understanding of General Ledger processes and principles. Experience in budgeting and forecasting. Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail. Strong time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High level of integrity and professionalism. Willingness to continue professional development. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
