2nd Shift Maintenance Technician – St. Louis, MO

Nucor is hiring a 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician for our facility in St. Louis, MO.

You’ll work with industrial equipment that powers North America’s largest recycling and steel operation,

while developing in-demand skills in a fast-paced, supportive environment. Safety is the foundation of everything we do. In this role, you’ll help keep our recycling operation running safely and efficiently by maintaining and repairing industrial machinery and equipment.

Key Responsibilities Include

Following all company and OSHA safety procedures

Participating in safety meetings and supporting safety programs

Inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and installing industrial machinery and equipment

Operating equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, manlifts, mobile cranes, and overhead hoists

Replacing bearings, motors, gearboxes, conveyor belts, sprockets, drive chains, and hydraulic hoses

Performing minor welding and fabrication

Conducting visual inspections and assisting with equipment repairs

Performing general labor duties including sweeping, shoveling, and yard cleanup

Communicating effectively via radio for traffic control, production, and safety coordination

Cross-training and assisting teammates as needed

Completing other duties as assigned by management

What You Bring

High school diploma or GED

At least 2 years of maintenance experience

Basic torching and welding skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Good organizational skills and attention to detail

Positive attitude and flexibility in a fast-paced environment

Willingness to work Monday–Friday, 3:30 PM–12:00 AM, and Saturdays as required

Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Basic math and computer skills

Commitment to wearing required PPE at all times

Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with hydraulic systems and ability to interpret diagrams or blueprints (or willingness to learn)

Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
