OverviewAt CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy our focus is patient-centered care. Our level I trauma center and academic medical center campus is designed to heal the body mind and spirit of every person in a more comfortable less stressful hospital environment. Our full range of medical services includes trauma services heart and vascular care emergency services surgery maternity cancer care and diagnostic imaging.The Manager of Laboratory Services directs and oversees the 24-hour operations of the clinical laboratory to meet organizational needs and comply with federal and state requirements. Directs, plans, organizes and implements strategies, and initiatives to enhance and support the operations of the clinical laboratories to ensure high quality, efficient, and cost-effective operations. Directs and oversees laboratory specimen collection, specimen processing, on-site, point of care, and send-out testing services. Collaborates with facility administrative and clinical leadership in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures, programs, and initiatives that support the mission, growth and success of the institution. Provides direction to department personnel to achieve operational and technical objectives including workflow design, service quality, financial performance, regulatory compliance, personnel management, patient satisfaction, and employee engagement.ResponsibilitiesManager-Laboratory ServicesLocation: CUMC-Bergan Hospital

Responsible for the overall administration of all laboratory operations.

Monitors employee and departmental performance to ensure adherence to policies and procedures, timelines and regulatory requirements

Remains knowledgeable on new technologies, methods and approaches within the laboratory community

Stays informed on and quickly ensures compliance with changes to regulatory and state requirements.

Ensures ongoing compliance with federal and state regulations.

Responsible for development, implementation and compliance with policy and procedures.

Develops monitoring systems to improve quality; initiates corrective action plans, and monitors results.

Evaluates existing systems and processes and develops corrective action plans for service/quality trends identified

Ensures prompt and effective resolution of quality or service concerns.

Responsible for equipment oversight, maintenance, and procurement in accordance with division, system and regulatory standards.

Directs and evaluates staff activities and provides coaching, guidance, delegation opportunities, and on-the-job training and re-training as necessary to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to policies and procedures; fosters open communication by offering, encouraging, and accepting suggestions from staff regarding department operations.

Screens, interviews and selects qualified individuals for open positions within the department.

Ensures staffing schedules are adequate to support service needs while achieving productivity standards.

Ensures employee training documentation is completed and maintained in accordance with state and federal regulations.

Assures the implementation of policies and procedures for the laboratory in accordance with national policies, procedures, and standards and according to state and regulatory requirements.

Represents the hospital’s best interests as a voting member for any work groups, councils or committees.

Participates in other CSH national laboratory efforts as required.

Performs in a fiscally responsible manner; identifying and correcting cost variances and continually improves labor productivity.

Develops operating and capital budgets and ensures effective use of resources including staff, equipment and supplies.

Provides oversight in the planning of equipment contracts and capital purchases in coordination with system standards.

Identifies operational, clinical, and cost reduction opportunities. Develop plans and processes for implementation.

QualificationsBachelor’s degree in biological or chemical sciences, as defined by CLIA.Minimum of one year of leadership experience as a supervisor, manager or director at a moderate or high complexity laboratory.Required: MT or CLS or MLS certification required, ASCP or equivalentPay Range$35.99 - $52.19 /hourWe are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
