OPPD's Design Engineering Department is looking for someone with a strong mechanical background to join their team!The Planning Support Specialist is responsible for performing specialized design, planning and technical directed assignments in support of projects and modifications for OPPD electrical generation facilities. Assigned tasks will require engineering support skills and independent judgement applied with minimal supervision. Works closely with OPPD Engineering Services staff, generation facility staff and other departments within OPPD both in the office and in the field at project sites. Specific accountabilities for this role include:Provide project management services to assure economic, quality and timely completion of multiple assigned projects.

Provide budget information, economic evaluations, business case documentation, work orders and schedule development for assigned projects.

Develop construction packages to provide planning and technical direction for modifications and maintenance of generation facilities.

Coordinate with Supply Chain Management to initiate and complete purchase of materials necessary for installation of project related systems and/or equipment using OPPD work management systems.

Provide regular updates on project progress and input project information into OPPD work management systems.

Close out and archive information from completed projects in accordance with OPPD procedures and document retention policies.

Provide construction management services to assure quality installation of new systems and/or equipment for OPPD electrical generating facilities.

Coordinate with Supply Chain Management to interpret and implement construction contracts.

Manage and provide oversight of contractors and construction activities for compliance with contract documents and OPPD policies and procedures for assigned projects.

Manage construction schedules and post project testing of systems and/or equipment, coordinate work with other internal and/or external groups, and report progress for assigned projects.

Provide design services for OPPD electrical generation facilities to support design and construction related activities.

Create and update detailed civil, electrical, mechanical and structural designs under the supervision of a qualified engineer from limited verbal/written instructions, sketches and field information to produce design documents including, but not limited to, work instructions, specifications, procedures, design descriptions and construction drawings.

Provide detailed design assignments as requested by engineers to support projects and modifications for OPPD electrical generation facilities.

Provide expert Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) skills using Bentley MicroStation (preferred) or Autodesk AutoCAD products utilizing the most current technology available.

Provide information, engineering supervised computations and drawings utilizing various computer applications to aid in project design.

Maintain a general understanding of all applicable local, state, and federal governmental requirements, codes, industry standards, construction means and methods, and internal policies and procedures.

Complete design reviews and as built inspections for compliance with design specifications.

Create and/or review engineering design work to ensure constructability with best practice means and methods.

Check drawings, records and other deliverables for accuracy and completeness.

Qualifications

Required:

High school diploma or GED

Associates Degree in the field of design, construction, engineering technology, or equivalent) plus a minimum two (2) years of relevant CADD experience OR extensive related experience

Demonstrated effective analytical, problem solving and decision making skills

Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, exercise flexibility and take personal responsibility for assigned projects

Demonstrated proficiency in Bentley MicroStation, Intergraph products or Autodesk AutoCAD

Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite products

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

Ability to organize, prioritize and complete multiple projects simultaneously with frequent changing priorities

Strong oral and written communication skills

Possess and maintain a valid driver's license

Desired:

Prior experience with ABB Ventyx Asset Suite work management software

Prior experience with electrical generation facilities
