Manager/Director in the coordination direction and delivery of a quality product for patient care. The supervisor will assist in the personnel management of the department.

Oversees correct assembly of instrument sets and wrap for sterilization.

Ensures sets are complete according to type of surgery scheduled.

Describe ETO, safety measures, and procedure for using the ETO sterilizer.

Cleans and sterilizes surgical instruments and equipment prior to surgery.

Checks instruments and implants.

Prepares, checks, orders and maintains par levels of Sterile Processing department supplies.

Oversees QA and routine maintenance checks on sterilizer.

Collaborates with O.R. Manager / Director regarding personnel including scheduling, performance appraisals, and counseling.

Prepares departmental budgets in collaboration with the O.R. Manager/ Director.

Provides educational training for staff in sterile processing to ensure that quality products are available for patient care throughout the facility.

Monitors the activities of the department with responsibility for effective and efficient departmental operations.

Works with the Materials Management department to see that inventory supplies for the facility are available and stocked.

Manages the equipment distribution for the facility.

Maintains equipment with collaboration with engineering and materials management.

Ensures all state and federal governmental requirements are met for the department.

QualificationsMinimum:

Minimum of 1-2 years experience in sterile processing department

Must be high school graduate or equivalent

CT SPT = Cert Sterilization Tech

Demonstrates organizational skills and leadership ability

Ability to work with computer programs

Knowledge of sterilization equipment

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous supervisory experience preferred

Prefer some college
