Accounting Manager/Supervisor

Description Katie Weigel with Robert Half Finance and Accounting is recruiting to fill an Accounting Manager position for a growing company in Reno. The role is responsible for both GAAP and Statutory Accounting work, but not Statutory reporting. The Accounting Manager is responsible for overall planning, direction and operation of the finance functions and staff; to work with the Controller to establish and monitor financial and accounting controls and procedures that safeguard the assets of the company. Additionally, the Accounting Manager is responsible for the oversight and facilitation of GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principle financial reporting, annual GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principle audits, and all other financial reporting that is required for both internal and external parties.The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the following accounting principles:a) Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) within the United Statesb) Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), established by the NAIC and the NV DOI2) Knowledge of the NAIC annual financial statement preparation3) Ability to delegate and strong supervisory and managerial skills4) Ability to work with external and internal auditors/examiners5) Be self motivated and posses the ability to process and prioritize a high volume of work under tight deadlines6) Assist in Budget PreparationThe role requires a BS Degree in Accounting and at least 5 years of experience. A CPA is preferred, but not required. Ideally the candidate will have at least 2 years of leadership experience.
