Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.Under general direction, incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups. This is a supervisory level for Computer Operations and the journey level for Information Security positions. The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services is seeking an IT Professional 3 in Carson City or Las Vegas. Responsibilities include managing and maintaining VMware virtualization infrastructure, monitoring, and optimizing network performance, troubleshooting network issues, and implementing necessary network upgrades. Additional duties involve configuring and maintaining network infrastructure, such as switches and wireless access points, administering server operating systems through installation, configuration, patch management, and troubleshooting, and collaborating with other IT teams and departments to support ongoing projects and initiatives. Developing and maintaining documentation for IT systems, processes, and procedures, as well as providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, are also essential responsibilities.
