job detailsContact to possible per Pay $35 to $40 Must be in ME and NH markets Remote but loacl to ME or NH Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Paralegal to join our staff counsel office for a six-month contract. The successful candidate will support attorneys with litigation matters primarily in Maine and New Hampshire. Review new assignments and assess immediate actions required.
Draft and file answers to complaints in a timely manner.
Prepare and send initial discovery packages to plaintiffs and codefendants, including interrogatories, requests for production, and notices of depositions.
Diary and draft routine motions to expedite the discovery process.
Perform investigative duties, including interviewing clients and potential witnesses interviewed by claims prior to litigation.
Collaborate with clients to draft discovery responses.
Request and coordinate the processing of plaintiff's medical records with record vendors.
Create chronologies of medical and other relevant records.
Serve as an alter-ego to the attorney, answering routine inquiries from claims and clients.

A minimum of 5-7 years of related experience in a legal environment.
Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies from an American Bar Association-approved program or a certificate from an accredited paralegal program is preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology and experience in insurance defense is a plus.
strong research skills and familiarity with online investigative resources.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to independently prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments.
strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to establish sound working relationships and work well with others.
Familiarity with court systems and civil procedure in Maine (knowledge of New Hampshire procedures is a plus).
Ability to draft substantive motions and legal documents.
Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office and word processing software.
